One post won’t do this topic justice, but I wanted to start sharing some of my thoughts on the subject of clone golf clubs vs. name brand golf clubs. Let’s start by letting the cat out of the bag; I think that clone golf clubs warrent a very close look by anyone in the market for new clubs.
Several years ago, I caught the golf bug after not having played since my youth. I had some hand-me-down golf clubs from my father – a set of Wilson irons, complete with persimmon drivers. They served me well early on but they quickly started to fall apart due to age. So, what to do? One thing I knew was that I couldn’t afford to spend $500-$1,000 on a new set of brand name clubs. So, maybe used golf clubs.
A teaching pro at a local course noticed that I was looking at some used golf clubs before a round and suggested I consider custom built clone golf clubs. He assured me that I shouldn’t be concerned about the quality of the club head and shaft just because they were clones. His main point was that regardless of my choice of clubs, I should make sure to get them custom fitted to my game.
We looked at a variety of club heads and I decided to go with the King Cobra look alike at the time. He took a variety of measurements including my height, distance from the floor to my hands and swing speed. We talked about many different aspects of my golf game including my typical ball flight pattern.
With this information in hand, he built me a set of custom built clone golf clubs. That was 10 years ago and I still play the same clubs today.

Hello there I have already been attempting to find all the ideal irons regarding my personal level of play, the particular taylor madeirons seem to be expensive for me currently but if I could find the best second hand set for the best amount of money I’ve got to spend that might be really good.
